Comments about this property
What a beautiful place
in a fabulous location. The gardens were very well kept and the view was
amazing! The accommodation was clean and homely, great facilities, they
had thought of everything! Lots of basic things catered for such as
washing up liquid, kitchen roll, foil, towels, toilet roll, salt and
pepper, hairdryer, iron, hoover etc and all appliances were spotlessly
clean and worked well. Brilliant!
Sue, who greeted us, was friendly
and showed us around when we arrived, she had even put children's
bedding on for our little ones.
There was WiFi and access to Amazon prime and Netflix which was brilliant for us as we were in every evening, after having put our children to bed. All the appliances had up to date tests and the accommodation information was thorough and well presented, as well as information on the local area, shops, useful numbers and places to visit!
We had a wonderful stay and would recommend woodpeckers cottage to anyone, especially those travelling as a family.
Tips for other travellers
The location was fabulous for us as we were using the car to travel to various places. We visited Flamingo land which was about 30/40 minutes drive, very impressed with this, very clean and staff were brilliant. Excellent rides and zoo was amazing. Book online, much cheaper.
We also travelled into Whitby to
see the Abbey and the Pavillion, we visited Whitby museum £5 for an
annual pass, very reasonable and worth a visit. Only 15 mins drive at
the most from woodpeckers cottage.
We visited Scarborough approx 30mins drive from the cottage, lots of available parking for reasonable prices along the front. Great seafront, beach was very clean, lovely wide paths for walking and amusements, cafes, fish and chips etc We did a boat trip, dolphin spotting, was just £3 each and we saw lots of dolphins out in the bay.
We also briefly visited Robin Hoods bay just 10 mins away from the cottage. We wish we had been able to stay longer to visit Filey and a few other spots.
